Florida Wins Womens College World Series Title

Rack up another national title by an SEC School as the Lady Gators from Florida won the Women’s College World Series Title.  Senior right-handed pitcher Hannah Rogers did not start Tuesday night’s game for the Florida Gators, but her steady hand and tremendous command closed out the final two innings of the Women’s College World Series Championship Series, helping Florida softball (55-12) earn the first National Championship in program history on the back of a 6-3 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide (53-13).  According to OnlyGators.com Florida outscored its opponents 81-10 in the 2014 NCAA Tournament with eight shutouts and six run-rule victories.

All SEC Final Likely in Women’s College World Series

The probability of an all-SEC final in the Women’s College World Series became very high after action on Friday as the Florida Gators defeated Oregon 4-0,

while Alabama’s Lady Tide held Kentucky scoreless for seven innings.

Both Florida and Alabama remain in the winner’s bracket and must still be beaten twice to be eliminated from WCWS play.

SEC Softball in the NCAA Super Regionals: Lady Cats, Gators, and Tide

Three SEC softball teams advanced in the NCAA Super Regionals to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City on Sunday, as Florida beat Washington by a score of 8-0, while Kentucky won a pair on Sunday against UCLA 7-3 and 7-1 to reach the promised land of college softball.  The two squads join the Lady Crimson Tide of Alabama in Oklahoma City to give this year’s tournament a definite SEC flavor.

SEC Softball In The NCAA Tournament: Tide In CWS, Lady Vols, Gators, and Cats Still Alive

Tennessee evened the series at 1-1 with a 4-0 over the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday afternoon, while the Florida Gators took a 1-0 series lead over Washington, and the Kentucky Lady Wildcats dropped the first game of their three game series to the UCLA Bruins in SEC Softball action in The NCAA Tournament.  The Alabama Lady Tide already clinched a spot in the College World Series, while the Georgia Lady Bulldogs dropped game 2 to Baylor and were eliminated from contention.

Regardless of how the season pans out for the Tennessee Lady Vols, senior Melissa Davin has already established herself as a winner in life, as evidenced by the time she spends with little Averi Ramsey.

Five SEC Schools Advance to NCAA Softball Super-Regionals: Lady Vols, Tide, Gators, Wildcats, Bulldogs

The Lady softball versions of the Tennessee Volunteers, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Florida Gators, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the Georgia Bulldogs  all advanced to NCAA Super-Regional play on Sunday.
